Yoked E6 - The Bitter Salt of The World
In this podcast episode, Yemi and Philia discuss the bad decisions that led Lot and his wife, and his daughters to choose a worldly life over God. We learn that successive missteps can lead to the loss of life, possessions and morality. Lot's first mistake of being a selfish man led to a series of choices that would attach him and his family to a life of sin. Throughout Lot's story in the bible, we see that he was continually rescued by God which was an opportunity to leave his old life behind, however, he kept going back to Sodom, the land of the "exceedingly wicked". Not that Lot was himself evil, it was that he was attached to the benefits that came from the land of evil. He enjoyed a worldly life despite the consequences. Ultimately, the path of choosing the world over the word, cost him his home, his wife and the souls of his daughters. If you are seriously struggling with choosing the word over the world, seek help. We are not meant to do life alone. A good spouse can serve as your accountability partner. Or you can confide in a counselor or pastor. You must commit to healing, being accountable and providing progress reports. God has given us the option of life or death, blessings or curses, and we should all choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19).
