Compassion and Restoration
On this podcast episode, we discuss the miracle Jesus performed when he brought the Widow's Son Back to Life in Nain (Luke 7:11-17). Just like the man healed by the pool in Bethesda, unasked, Jesus approached the widow and performed a miracle. Jesus brought the widow's son back to life because he had compassion for her loss and he showed his power over death. This miracle gives us insight into the character of God. He is compassionate towards us. He can see our sufferings or our sorrows and be moved to bring restoration and healing to our lives. It is by compassion that Jesus brought the widow's son back to life. There are a number of miracles Jesus could have performed to provide for the widow to ease her current and future sufferings but he chose to show that he has power over death. What we think of finality, death, is not final when it comes to God. God has the final word over all areas of our lives. Whatever seems dead can be restored. We are thankful for a God who is compassionate and can provide restoration.
